Thirteen bears rescued from confinement are experiencing fresh grass, swimming in open ponds and raising their young for the first time. As a transition to their new life, they were first moved into smaller enclosures within the larger habitat. Last week, they were in good enough shape for the doors to their enclosures to be opened. One of the mother bears built a new den to raise her cub -- something she would never have been able to do had she still been in captivity.
